Learning a new language can be tough, especially when it seems like there’s nothing in it for you. But when you throw one of the most popular video games in the mix, the stakes get higher.
So how can we help this international pool of gamers get more dubs in their favorite game?
A two-week in-game tournament without text-chat where players use what they learned on Duolingo to help them navigate more dubs for their team.
The Challenge
Overwatch is a first-person POV, team-based video game that attracts a truly global audience.

Players get randomly assigned to a team of 5 people from an international pool

Teams are employed on a mission and rely on team communication to stay alive and win
The winners will get to become flagship players in Overwatch and choose their outfits, language, and nationality.
